During the summer months, we spend so much of our time rushing around, getting things together for a day at the beach, trying to meet all those deadlines at work, hoping to see through all the social events for us and the kids, having days out, doing the housework and maybe even going on your annual family holiday. So, with all that in mind, where’s the YOU time? Hopefully, probable when the kids go back to school – is the usual response. But, you don’t have to do anything extravagant or take time away from all your tasks and to do lists in order to treat yourself. So, if you think you deserve a bit of YOU time this summer, read on for some treat tips! Go on – you deserve it!
Just because it’s summer, doesn’t mean you can’t update your home a little and treat yourself in the
process. A new rug, or new flooring solution – click here for a little inspiration – are lovely ways to
put your stamp on your home and make it feel fresh and new again. A new table lamp, new bedding or even a new mirror in your bedroom. The possibilities are endless.
Get up early
It might not sound like a way to treat yourself but hear me out! Summer brings us earlier, lighter
mornings which means if you have time to get up before everyone else, enjoy the early morning
sunshine and maybe even enjoy a whole cup of coffee before the kids get up and start making noise!
Sit in the garden and finish those last few couple of chapters of your book, catch up on a few
episodes of your favourite TV show or just enjoy the peace and quiet!
Have an early night
The opposite end of the spectrum! Once the kids are in bed, or you’ve done enough chasing around
for the day, excuse yourself from the housework and head up to bed! Slip into bed with a great book
or put on a film and relax – we all deserve an early night!
Treat your mind
Read an uplifting blog post for ten minutes or read something completely new on a fresh topic.
Treating your mind to some new subjects will exercise your brain and give you a fresher outlook on
Do something nice
It’s amazing how uplifting it is to do something nice for someone else. Whether that’s giving to
charity, giving your seat up on the bus, allowing someone to go ahead of you in the queue or even
donating some old clothes or books to charity. Doing something good for someone else, will give you
a great feeling.
Have a nap!
So many of us struggle to get the recommended sleep with need every night. So, why not treat
yourself to 40 winks on the sofa? Or sneak up to bed while the kids are busy with their grandparents
or at a friends house? The ironing can wait. You’ve got some pampering to do!
