You may recall back in July we spent a week in Derbyshire for a little holiday with family. We had a fabulous week and during our time in Parwich we visited Gulliver’s Kingdom which is in Matlock Bath for the first time. Despite the rain showers, we all had a fabulous day and we were really impressed with the park in terms of value for money, food facilities and also rides suitable for little ones. The staff were really helpful and friendly and we left the park curious about what magic the other two parks, in Warrington and Milton Keynes held!
Fast forward a few weeks and an email popped into my inbox inviting us to the Warrington Park for a Christmas 2016 preview and a day enjoying the facilities. I had a look at their website and got excited, it was clear that Christmas at Gulliver’s World Warrington is guaranteed to get you in the festive mood so I replied and accepted the offer immediately!
Giant adventures for little people?
Gulliver’s World Warrington has over 80 rides, attractions and lots of shows to see each day, guaranteeing you one of the best kids’ days out in the UK for you and your little ones. Gullivers World is the perfect theme park for children because most rides are suitable for those over around 3 years old and we have also not really ever experienced any queuing (and we have all dealt with tired and bored children in queues..)
On arrival to Warrington we were shown round by the marketing manager, who told us that the company ares still a family run theme park, specially designed for families with children aged between 2 and 13 years of age. This made me happy- a family run business that has been handed down generations is such a rarity for theme parks, Gulliver’s must be doing something right!
We met up with my friend from university, Fran who lives nearby for the day too. Fran hasn’t been to the park since she was around six years old so it was interesting for her to see the updated version of the park and the festivities too! After our introduction, we rode the special elf train down to the grotto area. I have to be honest, I’ve seen many grottos at Christmas time over the years so I was expecting much the same type of fayre. However, I was WRONG to assume. The grotto at Gulliver’s Warrington is fantastic! Imagine taking a walk through a winter wonderland, music, sparkle and fun! It’s special, it’s exciting and it’s very festive. The kids loved it!
Now of course, as it’s still pretty early and Santa was not in the grotto just yet, but we cannot wait to return and see the real deal! At the end of the grotto ‘walk’ there is an elves toy shop, where children have the chance to choose their own gift, which is a nice touch. The Christmas experience does not end there for the park because there is also a great selection of Christmas rides, shows and attractions throughout the theme park too!
Look out for some festive favourites returning this year, including the popular Elf School. Don’t miss the chance to become an honorary elf or come and visit Mrs Christmas’ Kitchen for the chance to cook up some delicious treats.
Rides wise at the park, we explored the different areas of the park and experienced most of the rides. The kids loved the excitement of the dodgems, log flumes and tree-tops swings and so did we! There is also plenty to do for the younger toddlers, such as the soft play, outdoor play areas and also the Clown School! Other rides include The Wriggler, Gulliver’s Grand Prix, Gully’s Princess ride, Ellie’s Animal Carousel, The Anteope Wooden Coaster, Splash Battles, The Galleons, Crazy Train, Pirate Ship and much more! There is so much to do at Gulliver’s Warrington, check this link for full details! At Warrington there is also the very special Splash Zone! You might think you need good weather to enjoy splashing around in the water, but that’s not the case. This fantastic indoor attraction is open throughout the year at Warrington and Milton Keynes. The water isn’t deep enough to swim in, it’s simply a splashingly good time for the whole family! Get ready for sprays, streams and super slides. Splash Zone is located inside and heated to the perfect temperature. Children of all ages can enjoy Splash Zone and what about the adults? Well, you can either bring your costumes and join in the fun, or simply supervise from the seated dry area with a coffee, perfect!
What I particularly liked about Gulliver’s park does not have lots of additional theme park prices. Families are welcome to bring along their own picnics, with areas reserved for this and parking is completely FREE. Again, a rarity! We decided to eat at one of the diners in the soft play area. We all had veggie burger meals (Massive tick Gully mouse for offering a kids veggie option!) and they were really nice. Four of us ate for under £20 which I thought was decent value. The food tasted fresh and the staff again, in these areas were great.
Overall, I think that Gulliver’s give you one of the best value-for-money fun days out in the UK (and I don’t say that lightly!) It’s also worth following Gully Mouse on Facebook and subscribing for the special offers too, which can also save you more pennies. Fancy a getaway?
